So, we are officially on month two of quarantine. For me, this time has been spent making TikToks, attempting to cook, doing home workouts, cleaning up my foster dog’s droppings, and lots of deep breathing. I have also had significantly more time to find new music and appreciate genres I haven’t really paid much attention to before. I also know being in quarantine isn’t an excuse for that.

I struggle with what to post on this blog, because I’m a Virgo and everything has to be perfect. What I don’t realize is that no one really cares that much and I should stop dragging my damn feet and give the people what they want – a Beats by Bay playlist.

Currently, I’d say my taste ranges from 80’s pop, to hip-hop electro, to lo-fi beats, to indie rock. All just depends on the day…and the WEATHER! Since it’s starting to get hot AF in LA (bad news is I don’t have AC), I’ve been listening to music that reminds me of being on a boat. Anywhere but my tiny apartment!

IMG_7160 (1)

Because I rarely post, I have A LOT of new music since I last updated you guys. Didn’t want to overwhelm you so I just took my most recent fav songs and threw ’em in a playlist for you. Enjoy!

As always, you are more than welcome to follow my main playlist, Listen to Me.

LOVE Y’ALL!

This post will be dedicated to Eminem and early 2000”s rap – everyone’s been asking, so for my first post of 2019 I decided to give my fans what they want. JUST KIDDING.

In every single post ever on this stupid blog I apologize for posting so rarely – but here I am, apologizing again for something that is completely in my control. For some reason I have been having a hard time feeling inspired enough to post.

Autosave-File vom d-lab2/3 der AgfaPhoto GmbH

Nothing specific has really inspired me at all to be honest, I’m just sitting alone in my apartment and my roommate ditched me to go out to dinner and left me here so I thought it would be a good time to occupy myself by writing down some of my thoughts since October of 2018.

WELL, a lot has changed. If you follow me on any social media I’m sure you’ve seen me switch jobs, move apartments, make new friends, dye my hair more blonde, maybe gain some weight, maybe lose some, idk. You get it though – it’s been a MINUTE.

My music taste has remained the same, but recently I have been obsessed all things produced in the 70’s – and music produced in this decade but kind of sounds like it’s from the 70’s. The best way I can describe this obsession is naming it disco-house. It’s already a genre, but maybe you haven’t heard of it??

Autosave-File vom d-lab2/3 der AgfaPhoto GmbH

This playlist isn’t even going to be JUST disco sounding music either, you guys caught me in a weak moment so I’m doing a variety of genres in this playlist (hopefully it embeds properly, if not FOLLOW ME ON SPOTIFY!). I don’t want to brag about my taste recently or anything…..BUT….I think it might be at its peak.

I promise to try and post more often but the thing that honestly sets me back the most is thinking of what the F I’m going to title the post. So dumb.  If you guys have any ideas on what I should write next please write a fan letter to my P.O. box.

First of all I wanted to start out by thanking you for even reading this post. My inconsistency is nothing short of humiliating and I have finally decided to sit my lazy ass down and type out a blog post after 6 months of avoiding composing a brief article for my loyal fans.

My life has changed A LOT since we last updated. I now live in LA (if you didn’t know that you live under a damn rock because I post a pic of my street every day), I got a job (finally) after living in Tahoe for 2 months, among many other things good and bad. One thing that has NOT changed is my impressive ear for a good jam. Not to brag, but yes, I am bragging.

my street – who can guess my street name?!?!?

Anyways, let’s get to the important stuff. WHO AM I LISTENING TO AT THE MOMENT? Weirdly enough, my Daily Mix on Spotify has been feeding me some great songs lately, old and new. Currently I am loving Satin Jackets, TOKiMONSTA, Phantogram, Arcade Fire, and Fleetwood Mac. I cannot explain this random combo.

Below are the links to three of my main playlists! Feel free to follow me on Spotify, and if you don’t have Spotify – WHY?????

This weeks post is dedicated to debatably my favorite band of all time with the exception of maybe two other bands. I was inspired to share my deep love for them after watching them perform on Saturday Night Live this past weekend (Bill Hader Special, absolutely epic).

c443954e.png

Arcade Fire is led by quite possibly the coolest couple to ever exist, Winn Butler and Regine Chassagne. Their chemistry on stage is electric and their vocals could melt glaciers (does that even make sense??) Win’s little brother, William, is also a member of the band along with Richard Reed Perry, Tim Kingsbury and Jeremy Gara.

I first fell in love with them in 2010 when their third album, “The Suburbs” came out. Arcade Fire was a magical introduction to my one true love, indie rock. Since sophomore year of high school I have been obsessed with them and had always wanted to see them live.

rs-14068-20140114-arcadefire-x1800-1389721067

Lucky for me, they headlined Coachella 2014 and I got to see the up close and personal for the first time. Their stage presence is nothing short of perfection and every song has such a different vibe to it which makes their shows so exciting. Back in October they played at Oracle and I got to see them again. I don’t want to be dramatic but it was an out of body experience and I will never forget it. May or may not have shed a few tears. Who’s to say.

If you aren’t familiar with Arcade Fire, I highly recommend checking them out. Their latest album “Everything Now” is maybe my favorite album of 2017. Try to change my mind. As for tour dates, unfortunately for us they’re in Europe for the the next six months. BUMMER. Doesn’t mean you can’t jam the eff out to them in your car though.

I know I haven’t done an artist spotlight in maaaaybe two years but I am trying to switch it up and keep my followers on their toes, ja feel?? Stay tuned for next week’s baller playlist. Now that I said I am posting in a week you guys have to hold me accountable so I stop procrastinating.

OK THANK U ENJOIIIII

not my uber driver

For the past couple of weeks I have been struggling with finding new music. To be honest, I have been lazy about it. I listen to the same five songs over and over and finally one day came to the conclusion that it was no longer fun. After I decided I needed to be on the lookout for some fresh songs and new bands….something extraordinary happened.

Last weekend, I had an Uber driver with absolutely impeccable taste in music. He was a quiet man who didn’t say much – but he didn’t have to. His Spotify playlists were out of this world and he inspired me to go out and discover some new stuff. He was humble and encouraging. What a guy.

One of his favorite bands is Alvvays. I had heard of the name but never took the time to sit down and really listen to their new album. Once I did, my life had been changed forever. This band is the one thing that had been missing from my Spotify queue.

This fairly new Canadian band is a refreshing addition to the Beach Goth genre. The members of Alvvays have been playing together since high school, but the band wasn’t officially formed until 2011. Molly Rankin, the lead singer and author of the majority of the songs, sounds a bit like the lead singer of Best Coast. Rankin has the ability to transport listeners to a completely different time, which is refreshing. I appreciate music that gives you the ability to escape and forget about any responsibilities or worries.

Alvvays-cover-photo-1503938891-640x427

So shoutout to my Uber driver in Santa Monica, thank you for your outstanding service and pristine navigation skills. I will never forget you!!!

Aside from my obsession with Alvvays and my Uber driver, I have been listening to a lot of Cut Copy, Washed Out, Generationals, and Miami Horror.

Also today I decided I should probably make multiple playlists instead of just adding to one (It had 600 songs and took me ten minutes to scroll to the bottom). From 2013-2016 my music in is a playlist called “Adolescence,” and from 2017 on my music is in the same playlist, “Listen to me.”

Follow me on Spotify for all the cool jams and have yourself a #blessed Sunday!

Hi you guyssss! Hope everyone is having a lovely week so far. I am super excited for this week’s post because lately I have been obsessing over the music I have been listening to. I’m sure you all can relate, but it is just the best feeling ever having a solid ten new songs on your playlist that you can just listen to on repeat for the entire day.

I have a weird habit of finding one amazing song and I listen to it on repeat until I start to feel physically sick because I hate the song so much. Let’s just say I actually look forward to my commute on BART because of this glorious new music, and that is saying a lot because BART smells like diapers and mold.

IMG_0259

Anyways, this playlist has more of a romantic, indie feel than my other music, which I dig. I feel like during this time of the year it’s nice to slow down and chill rather than constantly listening to uppity, annoying, party music. I don’t know about you, but in the winter I am literally never not tired so I am listening to very low-key indietronica on a day-to-day basis.

This week’s playlist gives you the perfect opportunity to post up on your couch in a fuzzy blanket and r e l a x. YOU EARNED IT.

Happy Tunesday Y’all. Enjoy.

Also, heads up, “Beats by Bay Weekly” is updated with each post, so songs that I have written about previously are no longer in there. SORRY.

Feel free to follow my “Beats by Bay Archive” Playlist

Or my main playlist, “Listen to Me”

LOVE YOU, REMEMBER THAT.

xx,

Bay

So yes, I am aware the last time I posted was about 6 months ago, and no, I am not proud.

I have been nothing short of awful when it comes to keeping my posts consistent. I am definitely top 5 biggest procrastinators in the world, which is upsetting because over the past few months I have kept some pretty ~banterous~ music to myself, please accept my apology.

I’m not sure what it is, but the past month I have been obsessed with alternative rock / electronica. Something about riding BART at 6AM every day when it’s nearly freezing outside makes you want to listen to some depressing music and vibe out on your commute.

a not so depressing pic from this summer. hi trev!

Quick update on my life since we last spoke: over the summer I traveled to Asia for a month (you had no idea, right???), lived in Tahoe (again, I am sure you had no clue), and accepted a full-time job offer in the good ol’ Financial District in San Francisco. I do a pretty great job of exhausting my social media presence, but in case you unfollowed me on everything already, I will add some of my favorite pictures over the past few months

U2 this summer!

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset
What is UP you guys. I am soooo excited about this post because like a million artists released new songs this week, including some of my favorite bands.

It has been a while since I’ve had a lot of new stuff for my readers, so I am hoping you guys love the new songs just as much as I do.

As some of you may know, I am graduating in ten days from college. As much as I am freaking out about the real world and what I am going to with my life, etc., finding new music and learning more about artists is weirdly relaxing to me, so I encourage you to go out and discover some cool new jams!!

This week is all about chill indie rock music (with the exception of the new ODESZA!!!!) because I have been overwhelmed with life AF and needed something to calm me down because I legitimately have two finals in the way of me being done with classes FOREVER WTF.

Coachella Weekend 2 – By the food, obviously

Here is the new Beats by Bay Weekly Playlist! You can also follow me directly on Spotify to see my other playlists.

  1. Breathless – Small Black
  2. ambivalence avenue – Bibio
  3. Late Night – ODESZA (took them three years to come out with some fresh stuff, about damn time)
  4. Line of Sight (feat. WYNNE) – ODESZA
  5. S.H.C – Foster the People (another one of my favorite bands, their new album is only three songs, and this one is definitely my favorite out of the three.)
  6. Way it Goes – Hippo Campus
  7. Strange or Be Forgotten – Temples (loving them right now, definitely check out some of their other songs too, also featured them on my post last week)
  8. No Stranger – Small Black (if you want to feel sentimental AF, give this one a listen)
  9. J-BOY – Phoenix (new single after three years, this band was my all time FAVORITE throughout high school and their new song is nothing short of epic, if you haven’t listened to them, check out their album from 2009, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix!!!!)

You’re probably wondering why the new Kygo isn’t on here. It’s because everyones already heard it, DUH. Still love him though.

Love all of you, even if you think I post too much on Facebook.

XO,

Bailey

Here’s a graduation pic of me if you forgot what I looked like!!!

ED16C0D8-FF1A-4BA2-9B10-1390FEB8B76D.jpg

Well everyone, I am back home after one of the greatest weekends of my life @ Coachella. There were some amazing performances, and definitely some disappointments (cough cough, Bon Iver, someone had to say it).

Since I know a lot of my friends (and maybe myself????) are going to Coachella weekend 2, I decided it would be wise to make a list of must-sees according to me and other people at the festival that I eavesdropped on.

FRIDAY –

SNBRN – Okay so I wasn’t much of a fan before this weekend, don’t ask me why. He was absolutely amazing and I HIGHLY recommend seeing him. He is pretty early in the day (2:10) but it’s the first day so you’ll have a lot of energy to PARTAY.

Big Gigantic – Because you can never spend too much time in Sahara and they have a full on brass band on stage (well, kinda) such a fun vibe every time I’ve seen them and I know you’ll love them too!

Steve Angello – Had to include him because he was once a part of Swedish House Mafia. I honestly did not love his performance but I know a lot of people did. To me, his performance seemed a little conceited and like he was showing off, never really addressed the crowd and wasn’t particularly fun. I also just love Axwell x Ingrosso more. GO TO HIS PERFORMANCE IF YOU WANT TO GET FIRED UP IN A WEIRD CULT-ISH WAY.

The XX – SUCH AN AMAZING PERFORMANCE! Their new album nearly brought me to tears. I sat towards the back and chilled. They bring such a unique and epic sound it would be a bummmmmmmer to miss them, OUTDOOR STAGE @ 8:50.

Empire of the Sun – Always fun to see them because they have dancers in sick costumes and the feel-good music makes you never want to leave Coachella ever, EVER.

Dillon Francis – Ok I know I’ve been hyping up all these bands besides Steve and Bon Iver (lol), buuuut Dillon’s performance absolutely blew the entire audience out of the water. But an OMG moment was when he brought out thedillon-francis-fire1.jpg soloist, Will Heard, for “Anywhere”…..the guy straight up forgot all the words and it was the most awkward 4 minutes of everyones lives. His visuals are straight up the best in the game and he wore A FREAKING TUXEDO ON STAGE. I absolutely love him. If you like to have fun, see him. SAHARA!!

Saturday –

Gryffin- Another great DJ playing a golden hour set in Sahara, a must see in my opinion. If I were you, I would head to the beer garden before his show and get some liquid courage for Sahara so you don’t get upset about being tossed around like salad.

Tycho – Very chill vibes during sunset at Outdoor. Bring a blanket and hang in the back on the grass, v fun.

Future – Main stage obv. Brought out Drake which was dope. Seems like a cool guy, I’d be d to be friends with him.

DJ Snake – I went for like 20 minutes and enjoyed the music but I was a mile away from the stage and almost got punched like three times. Be careful there.

SUNDAY –

Tourist – Sadly did not get the chance to see him play :(….. buuuut still recommend seeing him because I’ve heard he is awesome live and has some amazing songs I’m sure you would love.

Grouplove – Always great seeing them, super energetic performance and got the crowd up and dancing within a matter of seconds. Also fun to see what color hair the lead singers will be rocking that day.

Future Islands – Freaking love them right now, lead singer has a really cool voice. Discovered their music through one of the Outside Lands promo videos and fell in love. See them if your schedule allows it at the Outdoor Stage.

Porter Robinson & Madeon – Two super talented, young DJ’s who met when they were 12 and 14 years old… pretty crazy. This will be there last performance together on their tour. They both have amazing voices too and sing over their tracks. See them at the Main Stage.

Real Estate – I saw them over the summer in San Francisco at a small venue and they were awesome. Just came out with a new album a little over a month ago and it rocks. See them if you enjoy chill indie rock and need a break from people running into you.

Lorde – Second time performing at Coachella and she effing killed it. Totally changed her look and sound, her new album is amazing and I cannot WAIT for it to come out in June. She’s also funny AF and was cracking jokes like the entire time. Who doesn’t like a funny person??? Check her out at the Main Stage.

Marshmello – Last Sahara performance of the weekend, why wouldn’t you go???

What So Not – I got to go to his set for the last 30 minutes or so and it was AWESOME. He dropped a ton of new songs and the Gobi tent was a nice change of pace. Although it was packed because he was the last performance at Coachella, it was cool because there were disco balls everywhere and his visuals were really cool as well. Everyone was really sad after though because you know…. Coachella was officially OVER.

If you’ve made it this far in my post, I thank you for reading all of it. As you can tell, I had a really nice, relaxing weekend at Coachella and am looking forward to hearing what you have to say about my Coachella Hot List!!!!!IMG_0391.JPG

Here are some of my favorite songs from these bands:

coachella-crowd-600

Alright people, the first weekend of Coachella is in 72 hours. I thought this would be a great time to share with you my (highly anticipated) Coachella 2017 playlist. Set times just came out and it reminded me that I actually haven’t shared any Coachella music with you guys yet.

My last post was basically a Coachella blog minus the playlist, so I’m going to keep it short because you’re probably planning your outfits, selling a shuttle pass, or just not looking to read a long post.

If you haven’t gotten the Coachella app yet, I definitely recommend doing so before getting to Indio so you’re aware of set times, stages, where your fav FOOD is, etc. 🙂

This playlist is perfect for cruisin’ through the desert and is guaranteed to hype you up for the most epic weekend of the year!

If you can’t see this playlist, you should prob download Spotify. Normally I would embed YouTube links to make it easier but with a playlist of like 100 songs I was not about to copy and paste links.

SEE YOU IN SAHARA!!!!

Xx,

Bailey
