HAPPY FRIDAY Y’ALLLLLL!

hope everyone is having a great week/great start to their weekend! brace yourselves for a lengthy post since i kinda forgot to post one earlier and i just have so much to talk about with you guys!!

so last weekend i got the amazing opportunity to see foster the people AGAIN at the fox theatre in oakland, ca! the venue is absolutely awesome. it’s super old fashioned and a fairly small space, which i thought was nice. there was a bar/lounge area where everyone who was anyone hung out and socialized before the concert started.

with the fox being such a small venue, it was easy to get close to the front of the stage without pushing people or climbing over any bodies to get a good view. i somehow snagged the spot right where the photographers entered through, basically giving me a perfect view of the stage. there were two openers before foster the people, but i’m just going to talk about the second one because unfortunately, i missed the first act.

sylvan esso came on stage right when i walked in, and at first sight i had no idea what to expect at all. a tiny, energetic girl with a microphone and a tall, lengthy, geeky guy came onstage with a dj table and his laptop. they began to play and completely caught the audience’s attention with their electronic sound and the lead singer’s extremely bright and unique voice. i loved almost all of their songs, but i really enjoyed their most popular song, coffee (i’ll attach a link at the bottom.) sylvan esso is a great band to play at a small little club while you’re casually drinking with friends. their sound is electronic and modern, yet have a very chill vibe to them. if you guys like the band massive attack, you’ll love sylvan esso. their band was just formed last year, and they’re already touring with huge names such as foster the people. keep your eye on this band, they’re goin’ places!

foster the people was stellar as usual. they opened up with pseudologia fantastica, which i thought was the perfect song to start off with. the crazy instrumentals and vocals immediately silenced the venue as the stage was lit up with rainbow lighting, and lots and lots of smoke. mark foster decided to bleach his hair a few hours prior to the show, which is kinda besides the point but i just thought id let you guys know. the guys were very interactive with the audience because it was such an intimate setting with the old fashioned venue and small space. they performed amazing as usual, and played two of their songs off of their supermodel album for encore.

thanks for reading my extremely lengthy post, i promise to keep it short & sweet next time around.

here are some of my favorite songs i heard at the show, and during the week! have a blessed weekend.

xx,

bailey
